About

About the author:

My name is René Nieuwenhuizen and I was born on May 2nd 1963 in Den Helder, The Netherlands. I’ve always been interested in ancient history but since little over four years ago I started to allow myself to invest time in reading and learning about history and archaeology.
The first four years I’ve spend mainly with studying Egyptology. In 2011 I went on a tour through Egypt to see all those wonderful things for myself. During the past two years I have been blogging on egyptologyscribbles.com  but decided to discontinue blogging to give myself a bit more time to study and find out where to go from there.
At the moment I am studying European Cultural History but this does not take up all of my time so I decided to, carefully, pick up blogging again. This time not only about Egyptology but about (art)history and archaeology in general.
Some of the posts on egyptologyscribbles.com have found a new place on this blog and over time I will be adding more posts archaeology and (art)history. If I come across some interesting history or archaeology news I will posts this under “History and Archaeology news”.
And last but not least, I started a little “project” called “#ThisDayInHistory”. As the name suggests, I will try to make daily post about an interesting historical fact that took place sometime in history on the date of that post.
More then enough to keep me occupied I think 😉

  1. Very nice to meet you. History has always been a passion of mine and I’m certain I’ll be enjoying this site.

    • Nice to meet you too. I started off with an interest in Egyptology but after a few years I started to have interest in history in general. It’s a large field of interest so there is always something new to learn and share 🙂

  2. Hello! I’ve decided to nominate your blog for the Liebster Award! It’s a reciprocal award for smaller blogs (under 200 followers at present), as well as a form of networking for bloggers and a great way to get your word out to a wider audience!
